Who is Dr Stella Charalampous
Currently located in Limassol, Cyprus, Dr. Stella Charalambous worked as a Specialist and Breast Surgeon at Noble’s Hospital UK and Honorary Associate Professor of Surgery at St George’s University of London Medical School at the University of Nicosia. In 1990, Dr. Charalambous graduated from the Practical branch of the Laniteio Lyceum of Limassol with Distinction and Awards for her performance in Chemistry and Science courses.
She successfully attended the Entrance Examinations of Greek Universities and secured First Place at the Medical School of the University of Patras. At the same time, due to her excellence, she secured a scholarship to study at the Medical School of the People’s Friendship University of Russia in Moscow from where she graduated with honors in 1997. Based on her excellent performance at the Medical School, she was offered an honorary scholarship to continue her education in Surgery.
Dr. Charalambous was trained in various academic hospitals in Moscow and in 2002 she was awarded with Distinction the Title of Specialization in General Surgery. In December 2002 and after the preparation of her Doctoral Dissertation entitled “Clinical Value of Papillosphincterotomy in the Treatment of Cholelithiasis and Stenosis of the Sphincter of Otti” From 2003, Dr. Charalambous worked as a Surgeon in the Hospitals of Paphos, Nicosia and Limassol. During her work in the Public Service she developed a special interest in Breast and Thyroid surgery as well as Trauma Surgery.
In the context of this interest and after receiving a scholarship from the Fulbright Association, she attended for three months the surgical program at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he was further trained in oncological breast surgery, as well as in breast reconstruction. Continuing her training in Breast surgery, she regularly attends international and European training programs for Breast diseases and actively participates in Breast Centers of the United Kingdom.
In 2011, Dr. Charalambous took part in the advanced training in Trauma surgery under the supervision of Professor Ilias Degiannis at the largest Trauma Center in the world, the Chris Hani Baragwaneth Academic Hospital, in South Africa. Since 2017, Dr. Charalambous has been working as a General Surgeon and Breast Surgeon at Noble’s Hospital, United Kingdom. She was Head of the Breast Team and Head of the Multidisciplinary Breast Team. In this position, Dr. Charalambous had the opportunity to further develop her knowledge and skills in breast surgery as well as breast reconstructive surgery after mastectomies.
